Naav translates the silhouette of a boat into a sculptural storage cabinet. Crafted in red-stained teak with organically shaped compartments, handwoven cane details and electro-plated stainless steel with a golden finish, its asymmetrical form feels as though it is gently drifting forward. Signature woven spheres ground the piece, while the open compartments offer space to display and keep what matters. Named after the Hindi word for boat, Naav is a cabinet shaped by the feeling of movement, carrying and passage.
Each piece is handmade — minor variations in grain, curve, and finish are inherent to the craft and make every piece one of a kind.
Wipe clean with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals. As each piece is handcrafted from natural materials, subtle variations are part of its unique character.

Design Origin Story — SANJH
A Study in Balance.
Naav began with a simple challenge: how do you make the shape of a boat stand upright?
We knew from the beginning that Naav had to carry the unmistakable silhouette of a boat. But once the form was translated into solid teak, a new problem emerged — how could something so substantial, and so heavy, stand upright without losing the feeling of lightness in its shape?
The answer came through repeated iterations and a close study of balance. The structure itself became part of the solution. What appears to be a third leg is, in fact, the lower edge of the cabinet - allowing the weight of the solid teak body to balance naturally across two stainless-steel legs.
Those legs are finished with CharsDiwari’s signature woven wicker spheres, bringing craft and softness to an otherwise structural solution. The cabinet is finished in our signature naturally derived red pigment, while the electroplated steel accents at the front complete the composition.
What began as a question of how to make the form stand became the defining character of Naav - a cabinet held in balance between weight and lightness, structure and movement.

The Materials
Every material and finish is chosen with intention.
Solid teak forms the body of Naav, chosen for its strength, longevity and ability to hold its sculptural form. Its natural grain remains visible beneath the stain, giving each piece its own character.
Steel is integrated into Naav to provide strength and structural support to its heavy teak body. Its durability allows the piece to remain stable while keeping the structure visually minimal.
A natural red pigment stain developed in our workshop through repeated trials, rather than a commercial wood polish. It sits within the grain, allowing the natural character of the teak to remain visible through the colour.

At Chars Diwari, materials are chosen for beauty, durability, and responsibility in equal measure. We work with responsibly sourced teak, and favour natural materials that age gracefully - terracotta, cane, solid teak - valued for their ability to endure decades of everyday living without diminishing. Cane in particular is quick-growing and renewable, harvested without felling. Every piece is made to order in our Jaipur workshop, so nothing is produced to sit in a warehouse.
