CharsDiwari is a furniture and objects studio based in Jaipur, growing from a 40-year legacy of furniture making. We work with materials that have long been part of Indian life and with craftspeople who have spent years, often decades, learning how to work with them.

We are interested in what these materials can become now. Familiar materials can take unexpected silhouettes. Traditional techniques can find new forms and functions. We experiment with proportion, form and function while allowing the material to retain the character that makes it itself.

चारदीवारी — four walls. A boundary, and in the same breath, a home. We believe a home is built slowly through the objects we live with — their textures, rituals, imperfections and the memories they gather over time.

At the heart of every piece is a craft practice learned through repetition and refined over a lifetime. We bring that knowledge into a new context - making objects for the way we live today, rather than recreating the way we lived before.

OBJECTS WITH A POINT OF VIEW

Familiar hands.
Unfamiliar ideas.

We make objects with presence - pieces that bring character, curiosity and a little tension to the spaces they inhabit. We are drawn to forms that make you look twice, details that reveal themselves slowly, and objects that feel considered without feeling overly resolved.

Founder's Note

CharsDiwari began with a world I had been around all my life. I grew up on the floor of a furniture workshop, watching craftsmen turn raw materials into objects and seeing the same knowledge passed from one pair of hands to another. What began as something familiar slowly became the way I learned to look at materials, form and making.

I wanted to create a space where that knowledge could be questioned, played with and taken somewhere new - not to preserve what I had grown up around, but to see what else it could become.

CharsDiwari isn’t defined by one material, one technique or one way of making. It is a space for curiosity — learning from what already exists, questioning it, and finding new ways to make it our own. We are just beginning.
